How to measure for Horizontal Blinds
The window covering will hang inside the window frame.
1. Width: Measure the EXACT distance across the window from the inside edge of the frame to the opposite inside edge in three places (Top, Middle, Bottom). Use the narrowest dimension.
2. Height: Measure the EXACT distance from the top inside edge of the frame to the bottom inside edge of the frame in three places (Left, Center, Right). Use the longest dimension for horizontal coverings, and the shortest for vertical coverings.
3. Window Depth: The amount of space from the back of the window or obstruction to the windows outer edge (see below). For sash windows please take into account the depth of the lower sash when checking for minimum and flush depths.
For blinds or shades to be mounted inside the window and be flush with the outside trim or wall, these are the minimum required mounting depths.
1 1/4" for Easy-Glide Pleated Shades
1 3/8" for Easy-Glide Duette Shades
1 1/2" for 1" and 1/2" Mini Blinds, 3/8" Cellular (Honeycomb) Shades and Pleated Shades
1 3/4" for Duette Manhattan
2" for Easy-Rise Duette and 1/2" and 3/4" Duette with Power-Rise
2 1/4" for 3/4", Double & Triple Honeycomb Duette
2 3/8" for 3/4" and 1" Duette with Power-Rise
3" for 2" Aluminum Blinds, Wood Blinds, and Poly-Wood Blinds
4" for Beyond Wood Blinds
4.75" for Vertical Blinds
This is the most typical inside mount in houses in warmer climates that use 2x4 stud-walls and sash windows. The window treatment will be mounted inside the window but will not be flush with the trim or wall. The following are the minimum required mounting depths for all window treatments.
1/2" for 1" and 1/2" Mini Blinds
5/8" for Duette with Power-Rise
1" for all Cellular (Honeycomb) and Pleated Shades
1 1/8" for all 2" Wood, Aluminum, and Poly-Wood Blinds
2.00" for all Vertical Blinds

The window covering will hang outside the actual window frame, over lapping the window frame enough to cover for maximum privacy and light blockage.
1. Width: Measure the EXACT distance from the outside edge of the left side of the window frame to the outside edge of the right side of the window frame and add at least 2 inches to each side for horizontal blinds and 4 - 6 inches to each side for verticals.
2. Height: Measure the EXACT distance from the top outside edge of the window frame the bottom outside edge of the frame and add at least 3 inches for horizontal blinds and 4 inches for verticals.

Inside Mount Installation Minimum required mounting depth is 2.00" for all Vertical Blinds.
Minimum required mounting depth for completely flush inside mount is 4.75" for all Vertical Blinds.
To find width:
Measure the opening across the top where the headrail is to be installed from inside of
jamb on left to inside of jamb on right. Record the exact measurement to 1/8"
To find length:
Measure from the inside top of the opening on the left, at the center, and on the right to
the sill; record the measurement to the nearest 1/8" . Do not make any allowances:
the factory will make all adjustments so the headrail will fit the opening properly and
the vanes will clear the sill by 1/4" to 1/2".
Outside Mount Installation
To find width:
Measure the width of the area to be covered at the place where the headrail will be
installed to the nearest 1/8". Blind should overlap opening at least 4" on each
side to ensure privacy.
To find length:
Measure the length of the area to be covered and record to the nearest 1/8". Blind
should extend at least 3" above and 3" below opening or window molding. For
ceiling-to-floor installations, make adequate allowance for carpeting. Specifying OB
measurement means the factory makes no deduction allowances.
Patio Doors
To find width:
Measure the width of the area to be covered at the place where the headrail will be
installed to the nearest 1/8". Blind should overlap opening at least 4" on each
side to ensure privacy.
To find length:
Measure the length of the area to be covered and record to the nearest 1/8". Blind
should extend at least 3" above opening or window molding. For ceiling-to-floor
installations, deduct 1/2" for proper clearance. Specifying OB measurement means the
factory makes no deductions allowances. To ensure easy access through the door and allow
adequate overlap, consider the stack width.
